Mountain View, California, September 2001. The art and wine festivals that happen in most every town during late summer are one of the rare occasions when is easier to do street photography in the suburbs.

San Francisco, July 2001. While walking around Union Square I met photographer Michael Johnson, who sells his images in the street. We talked for more than an hour, and I snapped a few pictures of him during that time.

Lucca, May 2001. OK, so this isn't "street" photography. I guess it is barely "urban."

I took this with an old 50mm f3.5 Industar lens, the one that is a copy of the collapsible Elmar. Mine even says "Leitz Elmar 1:3,5 F=50mm".
I know it is an Industar because the engraving is crude and because I paid $20 for it.

I like the softness of the wall as it goes out of focus.

Barcelona, December 2000. A short, one-week trip to Madrid and Barcelona for the week of Christmas. This is one of my favourite photos from that week.

Paris, May 2000. I was on my way to an exhibition of photographs by Robert Doisneau, when, next door from the gallery, I saw a this woman with the girl and dog. As I was bringing the camera to my eye, they dissapeared in a small alley. I got this picture after following them, but the picture I had seen just a second before was better.
